5 Ways Content Marketing Will Grow Your Small Business

5 Ways Content Marketing Will Grow Your Small Business

Do you often hear about how you should be using “Content Marketing” in your business BUT are unsure of exactly what Content Marketing is?

Not to mention how to use it?

You’re not alone! Let’s take a look at 5 types of content you can create and where they fit into a marketing strategy for your small business.

1) Your Blog

Most Small Business Owners think of a Blog as their primary source of content.

Indeed this platform is ideal to share information and videos designed to help and educate both your prospects and your customers about the products and services your business offers.

Blog posts are perfect to use in posting to your business’ Facebook Fan Page and then boosting that post in order to get it in front of your target customers. In marketing terms this is considered a “Cold Traffic Introduction”.

It’s a great way to get prospects engaged and entered into your sales process by visiting your post and “opting-in” for a freebie you offer (referred in marketing terms as a “Lead Magnet”) that solves the problem you outline in your post.

2) Video

With the shift on Facebook toward video posts & ads, Small Business Owners need to begin creating this type of content.

Video posts on your Facebook Fan Page will get the highest organic reach to those who have “Liked” your page and gain the most engagement (post likes, shares, and comments) as a result.

There are 3 primary uses of video in your content marketing plan:

  1. Informational discussion or training- these can be used like a boosted post or you can embed them into your blog to further engage your readers.
  2. Product demonstrations- let your prospects see your product in action solving their problems.
  3. Training after a purchase- the best way to guarantee your customers satisfaction with your product or service is for them to get a rapid advantage from their purchase. Make sure they are clear how to use your solution and realize an immediate benefit. This improves retention and decreases refund requests.

3) Landing/Capture Pages

These are pages of your website which you can direct prospects to visit which encourage them to either:

Opt-in with their Name & Email to receive your “freebie” OR

Purchase your offer for goods or services

Either way, make certain they get added to your email list so you can easily follow up with them.

4) Email

Once on your email list, be certain to keep your small business top of mind to them by sending regular email messages.

Topics can include:

  • Updates on your products or services
  • Customer success stories
  • Product promotions
  • New product/service introductions
  • Requests for customer feedback

Set a goal to be consistent with your communications. Decide what interval works best for your business: weekly, daily, 2 or more times each day, etc

5) Customer Testimonials

These can be either written or video feedback from your customer sharing their experience with your product/service and the results they gained as a result of doing business with you.

These can be the most powerful pieces of content you can include in your sales process!

Using these types of content in your marketing plan will better help you establish you and your small business as the expert to use in solving your prospects problems.
