3 Social Selling Tactics To Effectively Boost Lead Generation For Your Small Business

Social Selling bridges the gap between sales and marketing to drive revenue in your small business through social media lead generation.

Visibility creates opportunity and using social selling to touch your prospect/customer at each point of their sales journey gives them the perception that you are everywhere and totally dedicated to solving their problem

Content is the fuel of your Social Selling machine.

Content can be in the form of:

  • Blogs
  • Research
  • Case Studies
  • Press Releases
  • Entertaining facts about your product/service

These can be in the form of posts, articles, videos, podcasts, infographics, etc.

The key factor is they must deliver incredible value to your prospects/customers and offer insight or solutions to a pain/problem they need to solve.

Once created, your content then launches the following strategy:

Create content –> Distribute via social media –> Engage –> Take conversation offline

You need to get your content in front of those people who will react or comment thus opening the door to you reaching out to them to start a conversation online that can eventually transition into a phone call or video chat.

Here are 3 tactics which will allow you to effectively engage with these prospects interested in your content:

1) Make It Easy To Contact You

Whether it’s your LinkedIn Profile, Facebook Fan Page, Personal Facebook Profile, Twitter Profile, Instagram Account, SnapChat, etc., be sure to include your :

  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Address
  • Website
  • Social Media ID’s (Twitter handle, Fan Page Name, Google+, You Tube channel, etc.)

You want to encourage those with interest to reach out to you for more information!

2) Engage With Those Who React To Your Content

When people react, visit your site/profile, or comment on your content you need to reach out to them via a message to begin an online conversation so as to strengthen your “know, like, trust” relationship. Examples include:

  • Those who react or comment to your Facebook post – message them
  • People who visit your LinkedIn profile – LinkedIn provides you with this data – send them a message
  • Users who retweet, like a tweet, or follow you – either mention them or send them a direct message

These are prospects already warmed up to the topic and solution you are offering!

3) Conduct Searches And Reach Out To Those Appearing In The Results

  • LinkedIn allows you to search for trigger events among users:
    • Job Changes
    • Job Anniversaries
    • New Companies
    • Job Titles

Once you find these results, reach out to them with an appropriate message and start a conversation to identify  their pain/needs you can solve.

  • Conduct a Twitter hashtag search
    • You will discover those who are actively interested in a given topic who you can follow and send a direct message to commenting on their tweet and asking questions to further engage them with you

  • Search Facebook for groups centered on a relevant subject affecting your business
    • Join and participate in those groups by commenting on posts and following up using Messenger to move the discussion offline.

Here are some statistics to support your Social Selling efforts:

  • 64% of decision makers like it when a salesperson has done research about them BEFORE a meeting in order to understand their problem
  • Prospects are 5 times more likely to engage with you via a warm introduction (you connecting around a similar interest/post)
  • 72% of B2B buying steps are now completed BEFORE connecting 1:1 with a salesperson via online resources

Lastly, consistency in content creation and distribution is a MUST.

On average, a decision maker will consume 5 pieces of content before being willing to speak live with you.

However, once you continuously deliver value to your prospect, closing the sale becomes common sense for them because they feel like they know, like, & trust you to deliver a solution to them!
